You may have noticed from our website or a previous visit that we are committed to environmental conservation. Why is that, and what does it mean for your stay?

The first thing you should know is that our promise to minimize our impact on the area isn’t one we take lightly. In fact, we go far beyond regulatory guidelines and industry norms when it comes to protecting the pristine beauty of our surroundings. In every way possible, we want to ensure that our property, and the surrounding park, stays as clean and beautiful as possible.

As a result, we have instituted a number of programs and ideas designed to help us meet this goal. For example, we have one of the most advanced waste water treatment systems to be found anywhere in British Columbia. We also avoid using certain soaps and chemicals that aren’t friendly to the planet, or that degrade very slowly. These measures help us to keep the water in our area fresh.

Additionally, we have used native plants and shrubs for landscaping, to preserve the habitat for local plant and animal life. The Lodge is also committed to a number of recycling programs, and donates money and resources to the Lake O’Hara Trails Club and other area initiatives. We even work with local government and university groups to study environmental issues in the area.

We don’t do these things because we want to create an impression, but because they represent what’s best for the park, and how we wish to live our lives. It is a priority for us and we feel it’s critical to our ongoing success for several reasons.

We are a multi-generational family business

This isn’t simply another property or business to us. This is our home and it means a great deal to us on a personal level, and we want to see it continue to be a source of pride for future generations, as well. To us, the area is almost like a part of our family, and we’ll do everything we can to help preserve it for the decades and centuries to come.

We want future guests to enjoy Yoho National Park as much as we do

It isn’t just our family that loves the lodge – we’ve had guests come back to us again and again from around the world, oftentimes introducing new family members and loved ones to the wonder of Yoho and Lake O’Hara. We want these traditions to continue, and for new visitors to be able to enjoy the beauty and grace that are all around our property. We feel a responsibility to everyone who has visited us in the past, or will in the future, to make sure that the property is as pristine as it possibly can be.

The beauty of our surroundings inspires us

When it comes down to it, we want to preserve the beauty of the area simply because it’s the right thing to do. When you’re surrounded by so much scenic wonder every day, it’s only natural to want to protect and preserve it.

Working in such a naturally beautiful place is a privilege, and it’s something that we want to preserve for our family and guests to enjoy for decades to come. And so, we hope you’ll help us to keep looking for ways to minimize our impact on the environment and make our Lodge one of the most advanced and responsible destinations on the planet.

Come visit our lodge and see why we are so committed to protecting the surroundings where we are privileged to live, work and play!
